How The Narrative Writing Prompts Story Starters Activity Works:

A student chooses one card from each of the three containers (or plastic baggies) labeled Character Traits, Setting and Conflict. As an example, they may choose "persistent" from the character traits, "carnival" for the setting, and "person vs person" for conflict. After they choose their cards, they are on their way to writing an interesting and unique narrative!



Included With The Narrative Writing Prompts Story Starters Activity:

➡️ Teacher Instructions: You'll feel totally prepared to implement this activity in your class with detailed instructions that explain how to set up the activity and explain it to students.

➡️ Story Elements Category Labels: Attach these three story elements category labels (setting, conflict, and character) to the plastic containers or bags where you will put the cards. Students will choose one from each container to prompt their narrative writing.

➡️ Character Trait Cards: 48 character trait cards made up of traits like, "jealous", "popular", "optimistic", "superstitious" and many, many more.

➡️ Setting Cards: 48 Setting cards made up of settings like "concert", "school", "museum", and many, many more.

➡️ Conflict Cards: 48 conflict cards made up of 6 types of conflict: person vs. person, person vs. self, person vs. nature, person vs. society, person vs. technology, and person vs. supernatural.
