Kick off the year with connection and conversation using this engaging back to school activity that invites students to reflect on their summer experiences. In this creative assignment, students choose two meaningful or memorable moments from their summer break and bring them to life through both photos and writing. For each memory, students insert a picture of the event and write a thoughtful explanation describing what happened and why it stands out in their minds. This activity encourages personal reflection, descriptive writing, and classroom community-building as students learn more about one another’s experiences. Once completed, students can share their summer snapshots with a partner, small group, or the whole class to help break the ice during the first days of school.

This is a digital resource, and students complete all the work on the computer. This works well with distance learning, 1:1 classrooms, remote teaching, Google Classroom, or online education.
