SHORT STORY CREATIVE ASSIGNMENT: STORY PUZZLE
Skip the traditional post-reading short story reading response, and try this fun alternative assignment instead! After students have read a fictional short story (or novel), have them cut out these puzzle pieces, write about the elements of the story (character, plot, setting, conflict, mood, tone, theme), and then color and assemble the puzzle to create "A Puzzling Story!"
Students will love the creative hands-on approach to this assignment, but they will also demonstrate their ability to analyze story elements!
