This resource includes 4 non-fiction texts (one page each) that introduce students to New Year's Eve / Day traditions around the world! Included is lots of information about how 4 different countries ring in the New Year with facts about interesting traditions, practices, and customs! The countries covered are Romania, China, Scotland, and Spain. Studying New Year's Eve around the world is an excellent cross-curricular activity as it connects well with Social Studies!

Each of the texts has a reading response that ask students comprehension questions regarding the piece (5 questions per reading). Also included is a detailed answer key for each of the assignments. These can be used as homework reading, or as an in-class lesson plan!

WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS RESOURCE

♥ This is such a great resource for having students learn a sense of culture and diversity. My 8th graders really enjoyed reading about the different cultures and traditions. I used this as a group activity where I had small groups of students read and complete the questions for each country, then they had to do a "mini" presentation and teach the class what they learned. They loved being the teacher.

♥ So easy to implement! Love it!

♥ I'm looking forward to using this in a few weeks. Thanks!
