Christmas Writing Assignment - Living in a Snow Globe Holiday Writing Activity: This winter writing assignment has students imagine that they wake up trapped in a snow globe. They must write about the experience descriptively, using imagery, metaphors, and similes. Students will complete a pre-writing plan using the provided template, and then do their descriptive writing. This activity is perfect for students to embrace the holiday spirit, be creative, and practice their writing skills too!
Although this is a Christmas resource, there are no direct references to Christmas in this activity, so it also works well if you are not permitted to use holiday resources in your classroom.

➡️ Living in a Snow Globe Assignment Handout: This instruction handout will clearly outline the assignment for students. It provides the background (student wakes up trapped in a snow globe), instructions on using imagery and figurative language in their writing, and the assessment criteria (writing conventions, organization, and content).
➡️ Living in a Snow Globe Pre-Writing Graphic Organizer: Students will use this to plan out the imagery relating to the 5 senses for their descriptive writing, as well as write down similes and metaphors they will incorporate.
