Christmas Descriptive Digital Writing Activity – Gingerbread House Real Estate Listing is a fun and creative way to improve your students' descriptive and persuasive writing with a holiday twist. Students will use imagery and persuasive language to create a digital real estate listing for a gingerbread house, where they will put their writing skills and creativity on display. Use the included Google Slides presentation to teach students about how to write using descriptive and persuasive writing techniques. After using the digital graphic organizer to plan out their listing, students will use the eye-catching digital templates to craft a good copy of their gingerbread house real estate listing in Google Slides!
Although this works great as a Christmas or holiday activity, there are no direct references to Christmas, so it works well if your school does not allow Christmas activities and can be used any time of the year!
This is a Google-compatible activity, and students complete all the work on the computer. This works well with distance learning, 1:1 classrooms, remote teaching, Google Classroom, or for online education.

Included are tips for descriptive writing (including using visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, and olfactory imagery) and persuasive writing (such as using emotive language, conciseness, and a professional tone). There is also information on the purpose of a real estate listing, what’s included in a listing, and why the use of descriptive and persuasive writing is important in this real-world context.
➡️️ Digital Christmas Descriptive Writing Pre-Writing Digital Graphic Organizer: This two-page pre-writing digital graphic organizer will help students plan each section of the listing, from brainstorming the main listing details to what to include for each room of the gingerbread house. The organizer includes prompts to help students stay on track and organized as they prepare the digital gingerbread house real estate listing.
