CHAPTERS 1 - 3: SETTING TOUR GUIDE Students write a tour guide script for Copenhagen during the Nazi occupation of Denmark.
CHAPTERS 4 - 6: JEWISH NEW YEAR WEB QUEST Students do online research to learn about that Jewish New Year that is celebrated by the Rosens in the novel.
CHAPTERS 7 - 9: TWO TRUTHS, ONE LIE Students empathize with Annemarie with this activity where they have to lie to their classmates.
CHAPTERS 10 - 12: ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY Students work in groups to practice a role play of the events that take place at Great-aunt Birte’s funeral.
CHAPTERS 13 - 15: POST CARD IN CODE Students write a post-card to Mr. Johansen using their own code to conceal the information from the Nazis.
CHAPTER 13 - 15: LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD COMPARISON Students compare the plot, conflict, setting, and characters of Number The Stars to Little Red Riding Hood.
CHAPTERS 16 -17: STAR OF DAVID CRAFT Students cut out, color, and assemble a Star of David that requires them to reflect on the novel.
