Back to School Activity First Day Icebreaker - Get to Know You Creative Activity: Shake up back to school with this unique and fun get-to-know-you activity that can be used in any subject: Snowball Introductions! With a variety of interesting prompts for students to respond to, they will have a great time getting to know each other by making these "snowballs", and you as the teacher will have fun and learn a lot about your students too.

This is included in two popular resource bundles:

Included In The Back To School Activity First Day Icebreaker:

➡️ Back To School Activity Detailed Teacher Instructions: Feel totally confident implementing this activity in your class with these teacher instructions. They will outline how snowball introductions work, so you can easily implement this activity with your class during the first week of school.

➡️ Back To School Activity Snowball Introductions Sheets: Share these 30 unique snowball introduction pages with students with 3 questions for your students to respond to. They will share information about themselves based on the prompt and then turn them into snowballs by crumpling them up into a ball for other classmates to pick up. Examples of questions include: Who is your hero? What is something that makes you laugh a lot? Who is your favorite singer and why? and many, many more.

How This Back To School Activity First Day Icebreaker Works:
  • Distribute the 30 unique pages to your students randomly. Each student receives a different sheet with 3 different questions!
  • Students will complete the first question for 3-4 minutes and write their name on the page.
  • Here is where the fun begins! Students crumple up the paper into a "snowball," and throw it to the front of the classroom. Everyone goes up to the front to grab a different “snowball” and returns to their desks.
  • Students smooth the paper out, complete the second question, and add their names. This process is repeated one more time so all questions are answered.
  • Now the teacher does attendance! Tell the students that when a name is called that appears on the sheet in front of them, they should raise their hand and tell the class something about that person (there will be three ‘facts’ about each student).
After you are done attendance, the class knows a great deal more about each person in the class, and as a bonus, everyone has participated on the first day!

What Teachers Are Saying About This Back To School Activity:

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a fun and engaging way to get students to interact at the beginning of the year. I plan on pulling these out at the beginning of the second semester to get the kids mingling after the break!

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My students LOVED this! It was a great way to get to know about each other, and set a great foundation for relationships in our classroom!

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved the variety of questions, it was so much more interesting than the same one being on everyone's page! My students really enjoyed reading each others' answers...and throwing them even more.
