Help your students understand symbolism with this ready-to-use resource. After students have read a fictional short story or novel, have them look through the text to find two symbols. Students will use a graphic organizer with two trees where they will describe the literal context around the symbols (in the leaves) and explain the deeper symbolic meaning (in the roots)!
