Romeo and Juliet Writing Prompts Video Clips is a ready-to-use resource that will help your students make connections to their reading of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Students will watch a short video clip on YouTube that relates to a topic, theme, or idea presented in the play. A related journal prompt is included and students share their thoughts and ideas in writing. The videos are not specific to the play, but they relate in a way that allows students to make a text-to-self connection.

Included in the Romeo and Juliet Writing Prompts Video Resource:

➡️ A PowerPoint presentation that includes links to 10 videos that connect with topics, themes, or ideas presented in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The video clips are broken down by acts with two videos per act. Each includes a link to the video and a related prompt.

The short videos are not about the play specifically, but they connect to something that happens in the chapters in either content or theme. This allows students to make text connections between what happens in the play and their own lives.

➡️ A response page where students can complete their written journals

How to Use the Romeo and Juliet Writing Prompts Video Resource:
  1. After students have read the appropriate act, play the two video clips in class and share the related prompts.
  2. Give the students 5-10 minutes to respond to the prompt in writing.
  3. Split the students into groups and have them share their writing and discuss the prompt, or discuss it as a whole class.
