Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief Activity - Make a Camp Half-Blood Necklace
The Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief Activity - Make a Camp Half-Blood Necklace: Inspired by the bead tradition at Camp Half-Blood, this creative activity invites students to make personal connections to Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. Just as campers receive a bead to symbolize each year’s most important moment, students will design their own necklace featuring five beads that represent significant experiences in their own lives. With room to explain the meaning behind each bead, this activity encourages reflection, creativity, and deeper engagement with the world of the novel.
This is included in our unit plan for the novel:

Included in The Percy Jackson Make a Camp Half-Blood Necklace Activity:
➡️ Design Your Own Camp Half-Blood Necklace Assignment: Students will design five symbolic beads, each representing a significant event or experience from their own lives. For each bead, they’ll include a brief written explanation that captures the story behind the symbol. This activity fosters introspection, creative thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the symbolic elements in The Lightning Thief. After students complete the written portion, consider bringing in beads, paint, and string to have them design the actual necklace!
