Homophones Escape Room Activity - Breakout Stations Grammar Review Game: Help your students understand and practice homophones with this highly engaging interactive escape room breakout activity! Students will circulate the classroom to visit stations and complete puzzles and challenges related to homophones! Before starting the game, students should have a basic understanding of the meaning of homophone and could also benefit from some pre-teaching with homophone examples.

How The Homophones Escape Room Activity Works:

Students work in small groups and move about the classroom to five different stations to complete puzzles and activities related to homophones. The goal of the escape room is to complete the task at each station successfully and retrieve a variety of mystery code words.

Counting Homophone Corrections: In the first station, students find homophone errors in examples to reveal a numeric code.
Homophone Story Search: In the second station, students read a story about aliens that contain homophone errors. They insert the proper spelling of the homophones into their answer booklet to reveal a mystery word.
Homophone Cipher Wheel: In the third station, students determine the proper homophone to use in examples and use that information to decipher a code using a cypher wheel.
Homophone Corrector: In the fourth station, students correct homophone errors in examples and insert the proper spelling of the homophone to reveal a mystery word
The Encryption Station: The final station has students decode an encrypted message based on hidden symbols they have to find throughout the game to reveal a quote!
