NUMBER THE STARS ASSIGNMENT: CHARACTER DIARY WRITING

Have your students take on the perspective of Peter, Ellen, Mrs. Rosen, or Uncle Henrik from Lois Lowry's best-selling novel, Number The Stars with this fun and creative assignment.

The novel reveals a great deal about Annemarie, but some of the other characters' thoughts, feelings, and opinions are not examined in detail. Have students use this worksheet assignment to put either Peter, Henrik, Mrs. Rosen, or Ellen's thoughts and feelings into writing with a diary entry from his/her perspective. Also included is a poster so you can easily display student work on a bulletin in your class or hallway.
