Hatchet Assignment Character Interview - Allow your students to create an imagined interview between protagonist Brian and the local media after his rescue from the wilderness, in the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. This resource allows students to use their background knowledge to infer the questions an interviewer may ask and enables students to show their understanding of the content of the novel through Brian's responses. After the written portion is completed, you could have students perform the interview in front of the class!

➡️ Hatchet Character Interview Assignment Sheet: A 2-page printable assignment sheet provides students with boxes for 5 interview questions and imagined answers from Brian. This allows students to use their background knowledge to infer the questions an interviewer may ask and enables students to show their understanding of the content of the novel, as well as the author's characterization, through Brian's responses.
