End of the Year Activity - Last Week of School Fun Snowball Writing Assignment: End the school year on a meaningful note with this interactive and engaging reflection activity: Snowball Reflections! Perfect for any subject area, this fun end of the year classroom favorite encourages students to look back and reflect on their school year through a series of thoughtful prompts. As each student completes their responses, they crumple up their paper into a “snowball” and toss it to the front of the room. With each toss and retrieval, students share insights about their experiences and memories from the school year. When attendance is taken, students share reflections from their classmates when their names are called. This activity, perfect for the last week of school, helps foster connection and growth, giving both students and teachers the opportunity to appreciate the moments that made the year special. I can guarantee this will be a lesson your students will not forget!

Included in the End of the Year Activity Snowball Writing:

➡️ End of the Year Snowball Reflections Detailed Teacher Instructions: Feel totally confident implementing this activity in your class with these teacher instructions. They will outline how snowball reflections work so you can easily implement this activity with your class during your final days of school.

➡️ 30 End of the Year Snowball Reflection Sheets: Share these 30 unique snowball reflections pages with students, each with three thoughtful prompts designed to help students summarize and celebrate the school year. They will share information about themselves based on the prompt and then turn them into snowballs by crumpling them up into a ball for other classmates to pick up. Examples of questions include:

  • What emoji would best represent your school year? Explain.
  • What was the most fun game, activity, or project you did in class this year?
  • What “school survival tip” would you pass on to next year’s students?
  • What was the best new hobby or interest you discovered this year?
  • Which moment this year felt like a “plot twist” in a book or movie?
  • and many, many more.

How the End of the Year Last Week Snowball Reflection Activity Works:

  • Distribute the 30 unique pages to your students randomly. Each student receives a different sheet with 3 different questions!
  • Students will complete the first question for 3-4 minutes and write their name on the page.
  • Here is where the fun begins! Students crumple up the paper into a “snowball,” and throw it to the front of the classroom. Everyone goes up to the front to grab a different “snowball” and returns to their desks.
  • Students smooth the paper out, complete the second question, and add their names. This process is repeated one more time so all questions are answered.
  • Now the teacher takes attendance! Tell the students that when a name is called that appears on the sheet in front of them, they should raise their hand and tell the class something about that person (there will be three reflections about each student).

After you are done taking attendance, the class has learned meaningful things about one another, celebrated shared memories, and as a bonus, everyone has had a chance to reflect and participate before saying goodbye!
